Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jinzhen is a botanical drug and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Jiangsu Kanion Pharmaceutical. It is primarily composed of extracts from eight raw materials of plant, mineral, and animal origin, traditionally including *Cornu Saigae Tataricae* (Antelope horn), *Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae*, *Radix Scutellariae*, and *Radix et Rhizoma Rhei*. In China, it is widely used as an oral liquid for treating pediatric respiratory conditions such as acute bronchitis and pneumonia, specifically those presenting with phlegm-heat symptoms. The drug exhibits anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and antiviral activities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, a granule formulation was advanced into Phase 1/2 clinical trials to evaluate its safety and efficacy in adults with mild to moderate COVID-19, focusing on its ability to alleviate symptoms and potentially inhibit viral progression through the modulation of cytokine production and viral protease activity.
