Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JIOUTING is a palonosetron hydrochloride injection developed and manufactured by Hangzhou Jiuyuan Gene Engineering (also known as Hangzhou Jiuyuan Genetic Biopharmaceutical). As a second-generation 5-HT3 receptor antagonist, it is indicated for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy (CINV), radiotherapy (RINV), and postoperative conditions (PONV). Palonosetron is characterized by a significantly higher binding affinity to the 5-HT3 receptor and a longer plasma elimination half-life compared to first-generation antagonists like ondansetron. It works by selectively blocking serotonin receptors both peripherally on vagal nerve terminals in the gastrointestinal tract and centrally in the chemoreceptor trigger zone of the area postrema. JIOUTING is available as a 0.25mg/5ml injection formulation and was the company's fifth approved product in China.
