Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiuwei Chushi Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Hubei Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically indicated for the treatment of pediatric conditions such as precocious puberty, central precocious puberty, and simple premature thelarche. The formulation consists of nine herbal ingredients: *Prunella vulgaris*, *Gentiana scabra*, *Alisma orientale*, *Bupleurum chinense*, *Gardenia jasminoides*, *Poria cocos*, *Coix lacryma-jobi*, *Paeonia suffruticosa*, and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis*. In TCM theory, the drug clears liver fire and eliminates damp-heat, addressing the underlying causes of early physical development. Pharmacologically, it has been shown to modulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, leading to a reduction in the secretion of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and a subsequent decrease in serum levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), thereby slowing the progression of secondary sexual characteristics.
