Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiuwei Huaban pills (also known as Jiuweihuaban Pill) are an investigational traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) multi-herb oral formulation being developed by Tasly Pharmaceutical Group. The formulation is designed to treat moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis with blood-heat syndrome. A UPLC-QTOF/MS study identified 75 components in the pills, with 35 considered key active components for psoriasis, including luteolin, baicalin, paeoniflorin, and geniposide. Sanguisorbae Radix is one of the important herbal components of the formulation. Jiuwei Huaban pills do not have a single defined biological target; instead, network pharmacology studies predict that they act on multiple pathways, including IL-17, TNF, PI3K-Akt, Th17, and MAPK signaling. The drug is administered orally as a granule bag and is currently in Phase 2 clinical development in China.
