Overview
Jiuwei Niuhuang Wan (Nine-Ingredient Bezoar Pill) is a traditional Tibetan herbal medicine developed and manufactured by Xizang Ganlu Tibetan Medicine. Formulated as an oral water pill, it contains nine primary ingredients: Safflower (Honghua), Bashaga, Aristolochia Wood, Bezoar (Niuhuang - cattle bile powder), Zhaxun Paste, Citrullus Colocynthis Seed, Swertia, Meconopsis, and Costus Root. In traditional Tibetan medicine, it is primarily used to 'clear liver heat' and treat various liver-related conditions, including hepatitis, liver enlargement, liver pain, and nausea. It is also indicated for traditional Tibetan disease categories such as peigen and mubu diseases. Due to the inclusion of Aristolochia Wood, the product contains aristolochic acid, which carries a warning for potential kidney damage.
