Overview
Jiuwei Zhuhuang San (JWZHS) is a traditional Tibetan multi-herb formulation (patent medicine) included in the Chinese Ministry of Health drug standards for Tibetan medicine (Volume 1). The prescription is composed of nine natural ingredients: Tianzhuhuang (Bambusae Concretio Silicea), Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis), Honghua (Carthami Flos), Ligadu (Meconopsis), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Congfu (Inula), Tuercao (Lagotis), Tanxiang (Santalum album), and Bangga (Aconitum). Its therapeutic actions are described as clearing heat, inducing detoxification, reducing phlegm, and relieving cough. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections (URTI), associated cough, and pneumonia, particularly in pediatric patients aged 2 to 14 years.
