Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jixuecao Sijunzi decoction is a specialized traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Hangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and associated intestinal dysfunction. The formula is a combination of Jixuecao (Centella asiatica) and the classic Sijunzi decoction, which consists of Panax ginseng, Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis. It is primarily used to address the gut-kidney axis by improving intestinal mucosal barrier integrity and regulating gut microbiota dysbiosis. By reducing the production and absorption of gut-derived uremic toxins such as indoxyl sulfate and p-cresol sulfate, the decoction helps to mitigate systemic inflammation and slow the progression of renal fibrosis.
