Overview

JKN2501 is an investigational intravenous small-molecule, broad-spectrum **beta-lactamase inhibitor** being developed in China for use with meropenem against serious resistant bacterial infections. It does not directly kill bacteria; instead, it inhibits bacterial beta-lactamases across Ambler classes A, B, C, and D, including KPC, NDM metallo-beta-lactamases, and OXA enzymes, thereby protecting meropenem from enzymatic hydrolysis and restoring its antibacterial activity. JKN2501 has completed a Phase 1 healthy-volunteer study for complicated urinary tract infection development and is in a randomized Phase 2a study with meropenem for hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia.
