JL1 is a monoclonal antibody that targets a specific, leukemia-associated epitope of **Basigin** (CD147). This antigen is a 120-kDa glycoprotein highly expressed on the surface of malignant lymphoblasts in both **T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL)** and **B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL)**, while its expression on normal tissues is largely restricted to a subset of cortical thymocytes. In clinical practice, JL1 is primarily utilized as a diagnostic and prognostic marker through flow cytometric immunophenotyping to identify leukemic cells and monitor treatment response. Beyond its diagnostic utility, research has explored the potential of JL1 as a therapeutic target, including the development of radioimmunotherapies and antibody-drug conjugates, due to its high specificity for leukemic blasts compared to mature hematopoietic cells.
