JL14002 is a ranibizumab biosimilar developed by Jecho Biopharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. It is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody Fab fragment designed to target and inhibit vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). By binding to VEGF-A, JL14002 prevents the activation of VEGF receptors (VEGFR1 and VEGFR2) on the surface of vascular endothelial cells, thereby suppressing neovascularization and reducing vascular permeability. The drug is administered via intravitreal injection and is primarily indicated for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (wAMD) and diabetic macular degeneration. It is notable as the first ranibizumab biosimilar independently developed in China and has reached Phase 3 clinical trials and the NDA/BLA stage.
