JLM018

JLM018 is an investigational recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 7 (rhBMP-7) therapeutic being developed by Jecho Biopharmaceuticals for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy (diabetic kidney disease). BMP-7 is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily and is a critical endogenous regulator of renal homeostasis; its expression is significantly downregulated during the progression of chronic kidney disease. By replenishing BMP-7 levels, JLM018 aims to activate bone morphogenetic protein receptors (BMPRs), which in turn antagonizes pro-fibrotic TGF-β signaling, inhibits epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in renal tubular cells, and reduces inflammation. The drug is produced using Jecho's proprietary high-efficiency recombinant protein expression platform and is currently in the early stages of development, targeting the underlying pathological fibrosis associated with diabetic renal impairment.
