JM-010

JM-010 is a fixed-dose combination of buspirone and zolmitriptan being developed for the treatment of levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID) in patients with Parkinson's disease. Buspirone acts as a partial agonist at the 5-HT1A receptor, while zolmitriptan is an agonist at the 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptors. The combination is designed to modulate the serotonergic system to reduce the excessive and erratic release of dopamine from serotonergic neurons, which occurs in the Parkinsonian brain following levodopa administration and is a primary driver of dyskinesia. By dampening this serotonergic activity, JM-010 aims to alleviate dyskinetic movements without interfering with the therapeutic motor benefits of levodopa. The program was originally developed by Contera Pharma, which was subsequently acquired by Bukwang Pharmaceutical.
