JMN3-003 (also known as compound 6p) is a preclinical, host-directed small molecule antiviral developed by Drug Innovation Ventures at Emory (DRIVE). It is a benzimidazole-based compound designed to treat myxovirus infections, including influenza (orthomyxoviruses) and various paramyxoviruses. The drug's mechanism of action involves modulating host cell factors that are essential for the activity of the viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) complex. By targeting host-side requirements for viral replication rather than the virus itself, JMN3-003 aims to provide a broad-spectrum therapeutic effect with a high genetic barrier to the development of viral resistance. Preclinical data indicates low nanomolar potency (EC50 ~30-40 nM) against various viral strains, and ongoing research focuses on optimizing the compound's potency and aqueous solubility.
