Overview

JMT206 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Shanghai JMT-Bio Inc., a subsidiary of CSPC Pharmaceutical Group, for the treatment of muscle-wasting conditions such as sarcopenia and muscle atrophy. It functions as a myostatin (growth differentiation factor 8, GDF-8) inhibitor. Myostatin is a member of the TGF-beta superfamily that acts as a potent negative regulator of skeletal muscle mass; by binding to and neutralizing myostatin, JMT206 prevents it from interacting with its receptors, thereby promoting muscle growth and increasing muscle strength. The drug is currently undergoing Phase I clinical evaluation to assess its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in healthy subjects.
