Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JMT206 + semaglutide is an investigational combination therapy being developed by CSPC Pharmaceutical Group (via its subsidiary Shanghai JMT Biological Technology) for weight management in overweight or obese adults. The combination consists of JMT206, a recombinant fully human monoclonal antibody that dual-targets activin receptor type IIA (ActR-IIA) and type IIB (ActR-IIB), and semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. By blocking ActR-IIA and ActR-IIB, JMT206 inhibits downstream signaling of negative regulators of muscle growth (such as activin A, myostatin, and GDF11), thereby promoting muscle mass preservation and growth while reducing fat. Semaglutide, on the other hand, acts as a GLP-1 receptor agonist to suppress appetite and delay gastric emptying. The combination is designed to address a key limitation of GLP-1 monotherapies—muscle loss during weight reduction—by combining muscle-preserving and fat-reducing mechanisms. It is currently in Phase I clinical development in China.
