Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**JN2019** is a biological drug candidate developed by JN Nova Pharma in partnership with Canada's National Research Council (NRC) Human Health Therapeutics Research Centre. It functions as an enhanced **ACE2 decoy** fused with Fc (likely an ACE2-Fc fusion protein), trapping SARS-CoV-2 spike protein to inhibit viral entry into lung and airway cells, neutralizing all variants of concern including Delta and Omicron. The molecule retains full ACE2 enzymatic activity to counteract virus-induced ACE2 loss, potentially protecting against acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), acute kidney injury (AKI), and organ failure in severe COVID-19 cases. Intended for early treatment in symptomatic pre-hospitalized and hospitalized patients, it aims to prevent long-term complications and has shown preclinical efficacy in hypertensive models for blood pressure reduction and albuminuria.[1][3][4][5]
