Overview

JNJ-1761981 is an extended-release (ER) chemotherapy formulation developed by Johnson & Johnson for intratumoral administration. It is designed to deliver a sustained release of its cytotoxic payload, docetaxel, directly into solid tumor lesions. This localized delivery method aims to achieve high therapeutic concentrations at the site of the tumor while reducing systemic exposure and associated toxicities. JNJ-1761981 is being investigated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and is being studied both as a monotherapy and in combination with the PD-1 inhibitor cetrelimab.
