JNJ-18054478 is an orally active, selective, nonpeptide chymase inhibitor developed by Johnson & Johnson for the treatment of asthma. Chymase is a serine protease released from mast cells and is implicated in inflammatory processes, including those involved in asthma pathophysiology. By inhibiting chymase, JNJ-18054478 was intended to reduce inflammation and airway remodeling associated with persistent asthma. The drug reached Phase 2 clinical trials but development was discontinued after these studies[1][2][3].
