The compound was designed to modulate the activity of AMPA receptors via inhibition of this auxiliary subunit, potentially affecting excitatory neurotransmission in the central nervous system. Its primary development focus was for neurological or psychiatric indications; however, no specific disease indication reached advanced clinical stages. Clinical development included phase 1 studies in healthy volunteers to assess safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics after oral administration. As of May 2025, all development has been discontinued[1][2][3].
