Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Combination of JNJ-73763989 and JNJ-56136379 is an investigational regimen for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. JNJ-73763989 is a liver-targeted, N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc)-conjugated small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic that reduces hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and other HBV proteins through RNA interference, thereby suppressing viral gene expression and replication. JNJ-56136379 (also known as bersacapavir, JNJ-6379) is a capsid assembly modulator (CAM) that inhibits HBV replication by interfering with the proper assembly of the viral capsid. The combination, studied with nucleos(t)ide analogues, is designed to maximize reduction in viral replication and protein burden to improve the chance of functional cure in people with chronic hepatitis B. The regimen has been evaluated in phase 2 studies[1][5][6].
