JNJ-89853413 is a novel first-in-class human bispecific antibody developed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and higher-risk myelodysplastic neoplasms (MDS). The drug is designed to bind both the CD33 protein on AML and MDS blast cells and the Vδ2 chain on Vγ9Vδ2 T-cells. By bringing these two cell types together, it selectively activates Vδ2 T-cells to kill CD33-positive cancer cells while sparing healthy monocytes and natural killer cells. Preclinical studies have shown potent, selective cytotoxicity against AML blasts with minimal impact on healthy hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials[1][3][5].
