JNTX-101

JNTX-101 is a novel albumin-encapsulated gemcitabine prodrug developed by January Therapeutics. It is designed to improve the therapeutic index of gemcitabine, a standard-of-care chemotherapy for various solid tumors, by utilizing human serum albumin (HSA) as a nanoparticle carrier. The drug's uptake and efficacy are significantly influenced by the expression of Caveolin-1 (Cav-1), which facilitates the internalization of albumin-bound drugs into cancer cells. Preclinical studies in pancreatic and lung cancer models suggest that Cav-1 may serve as a potential predictive biomarker for JNTX-101 sensitivity, particularly in nutrient-deprived conditions where albumin uptake is often upregulated by tumor cells.
