Overview

JOINTSTEM is an autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy developed by Nature Cell and R Bio for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. The therapy involves extracting a patient's own adipose tissue, isolating and expanding the mesenchymal stem cells in vitro, and then administering them back into the patient's knee joint via a single intra-articular injection. Once in the joint, these cells are thought to promote cartilage regeneration through the secretion of various growth factors and cytokines (paracrine effect), while also exerting anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects to reduce pain and improve joint function. JOINTSTEM has completed Phase 3 clinical trials in South Korea and has been investigated in Phase 2 trials in the United States, representing a significant advancement in regenerative medicine for degenerative joint diseases.
