Jonosteril is a sterile, preservative-free isotonic and isoionic electrolyte infusion solution used for parenteral fluid and electrolyte replacement. It is indicated for the treatment of extracellular dehydration, hyponatremia, hypokalemia, hypochloremia, acidosis (including mild acidosis), and for the prophylaxis of dehydration and electrolyte loss in adults as well as pediatric populations. The solution contains various electrolytes—primarily sodium chloride, potassium chloride or acetate, calcium diacetate or chloride, magnesium diacetate or chloride—and acetate salts to help maintain acid-base balance. Its mechanism of action is to restore fluid volume and correct electrolyte imbalances by providing physiologically relevant concentrations of essential ions intravenously[1][5].
