Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jonosteril is a balanced, isotonic crystalloid electrolyte infusion solution developed and manufactured by Fresenius Kabi. It is designed for parenteral fluid and electrolyte replacement, particularly in cases of isotonic or hypotonic dehydration, and to prevent or treat metabolic acidosis. The solution contains a physiological concentration of essential electrolytes, including sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and chloride, with acetate serving as a metabolizable bicarbonate precursor to maintain acid-base balance without causing hyperchloremic acidosis. Jonosteril is widely used in clinical settings for perioperative fluid therapy, volume resuscitation, and hemodynamic stabilization, including in patients with severe sepsis.
