Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JOYFINAC-EP is a branded generic fixed-dose combination (FDC) medication marketed by JoY Pharma, an Indian pharmaceutical company. It is specifically indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders where muscle spasms are a complicating factor. The formulation combines two active ingredients: aceclofenac and eperisone. Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Eperisone is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant that works by inhibiting spinal reflexes and relaxing both skeletal and vascular smooth muscles through the blockade of voltage-gated calcium and sodium channels. This dual action helps to alleviate pain while simultaneously reducing muscle stiffness and improving local circulation.
