Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Joyfinac-MR is a branded generic fixed-dose combination (FDC) medication marketed by JoY Pharma, a pharmaceutical company based in Bengaluru, India. It is part of the company's anti-inflammatory product range and is primarily indicated for the management of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders, particularly those complicated by muscle spasms. The formulation typically consists of three active ingredients: diclofenac potassium (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug or NSAID), paracetamol (an analgesic and antipyretic), and chlorzoxazone (a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant). Diclofenac and paracetamol work synergistically to provide relief from pain and inflammation by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes and reducing prostaglandin synthesis. Chlorzoxazone acts on the central nervous system, specifically at the level of the spinal cord and subcortical areas of the brain, to inhibit multi-synaptic reflex arcs involved in producing and maintaining muscle spasms. This combination therapy is designed to address both the inflammatory pain and the physical stiffness associated with conditions such as strains, sprains, and back pain.
