Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JOYRAB-DSR is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product marketed by JoY Pharma, primarily indicated for gastrointestinal disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and dyspepsia. It consists of two active small molecule ingredients: rabeprazole and domperidone. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist with potent gastrokinetic and antiemetic properties; it acts by blocking dopamine D2 receptors in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby increasing lower esophageal sphincter tone and enhancing gastric motility. The 'DSR' designation indicates that the domperidone component is provided in a sustained-release formulation to provide prolonged prokinetic effects.
