Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JS103 is a pegylated recombinant uricase derivative developed by Shanghai Junshi Biosciences and its subsidiary Shanghai JunTop Biosciences for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout. As an enzyme biologic, it functions by catalyzing the conversion of poorly soluble uric acid into allantoin, a highly soluble metabolite that is readily excreted by the kidneys. The pegylation of the uricase enzyme is designed to enhance its pharmacokinetic properties, prolong its half-life, and potentially reduce the immunogenicity typically associated with non-human uricase proteins. JS103 is currently undergoing clinical evaluation to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in lowering serum uric acid levels in patients.
