Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JT-003 is a 30 mg formulation of pioglitazone, a small molecule thiazolidinedione developed by Jeil Pharmaceutical for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. As an insulin sensitizer, it primarily targets the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) to enhance cellular responsiveness to insulin and mitigate insulin resistance. JT-003 has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials as an add-on therapy for patients whose type 2 diabetes is inadequately controlled by a combination of metformin and dapagliflozin, where it demonstrated significant improvements in HbA1c levels and other metabolic parameters such as HOMA-IR and lipid profiles.
