JTA-004 is an investigational intra-articular injectable therapy developed for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (OA) pain. It is a proprietary protein solution composed of hyaluronic acid, plasma proteins derived from human plasma, and clonidine. The formulation aims to provide multiple therapeutic benefits in a single injection: hyaluronic acid and plasma proteins work together to improve joint lubrication and protect cartilage by mimicking the mechanical properties of synovial fluid, while clonidine offers short-term analgesic effects. Upon injection into the knee joint, JTA-004 forms a gel-like network that provides both lubrication and shock absorption, potentially reducing pain and improving function in OA patients. Clinical studies have shown that JTA-004 is safe and effective—particularly in patients with severe or inflammatory-driven OA phenotypes—and may offer advantages over standard hyaluronic acid treatments[2][3][4][6][8].
