Overview
**JTE-162** is an oral small molecule NLRP3 inhibitor developed by Japan Tobacco for autoinflammatory and autoimmune diseases. It suppresses excessive immune responses by inhibiting the NLRP3 inflammasome, a key multiprotein complex that activates inflammatory cytokines like IL-1β in innate immune cells. The drug is in Phase 1 clinical development, including a Phase 1b open-label trial (NCT07247266) evaluating safety, tolerability, efficacy, and pharmacokinetics in patients with cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes (CAPS), such as familial cold autoinflammatory syndrome (FCAS) and Muckle-Wells syndrome (MWS).
