JTT-302 is an investigational small molecule drug developed as an oral inhibitor of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP). Its primary mechanism of action is the inhibition of CETP, a plasma protein that facilitates the transfer of cholesteryl esters and triglycerides between lipoproteins. By inhibiting CETP, JTT-302 aims to increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels and favorably modify lipid profiles in patients with dyslipidemia or lipid metabolism disorders. The drug was developed by Japan Tobacco and Akros Pharma for the treatment of dyslipidemia but has not received regulatory approval. Clinical trials reached Phase 2 for this indication[1][3][5].
