Juglans nigra pollen

Juglans nigra pollen is a non-standardized allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the black walnut tree (Juglans nigra). It is used for both the diagnosis and treatment of allergies to black walnut pollen. [3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11] For diagnosis, it is administered via percutaneous (skin prick) or intradermal tests to confirm hypersensitivity. [4] For treatment, it is used in allergen immunotherapy, administered as subcutaneous injections, to desensitize the patient's immune system to the allergen over time, thereby reducing allergic symptoms. [4, 5, 9, 11] This product is marketed by companies such as Greer Laboratories, Inc. (doing business as Stallergenes Greer). [8, 12] It is available as a single-allergen extract and is also included as a component in multi-allergen tree pollen mixes. [4, 15]
