Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Julphar Insulin R is a short-acting, recombinant human soluble insulin biosimilar developed and manufactured by Julphar Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries. It is designed for the treatment of diabetes mellitus, including type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes. As a short-acting insulin, it mimics the endogenous postprandial insulin response by binding to the insulin receptor, which facilitates glucose uptake into skeletal muscle and adipose tissue while simultaneously inhibiting hepatic glucose production. The product was developed as a biosimilar to the reference product Huminsulin Normal (Humulin R) and has demonstrated pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic bioequivalence in euglycemic glucose clamp studies.
