Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Juniperus californica pollen (also known as California Juniper pollen) is an allergenic extract indicated for both diagnostic skin testing and subcutaneous immunotherapy. [8] It is used to identify and treat individuals with allergic conditions caused by sensitivity to pollen from the California Juniper tree. The product is an injectable solution containing pollen extract from *Juniperus californica* in a phenol-preserved sodium bicarbonate buffer. As an immunomodulatory agent, it works by gradually desensitizing the immune system to the specific allergens, thereby reducing the severity of allergic reactions upon subsequent exposure. [5] Due to the risk of severe systemic reactions, including anaphylaxis, it is intended for administration by physicians experienced in allergen immunotherapy. [8]
