Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jupimarc is a branded generic formulation of rosuvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin), developed and marketed by Cytech Pharma in India. It works by competitively inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting step in cholesterol biosynthesis in the liver. This inhibition leads to an increase in LDL receptor expression on hepatocytes, resulting in enhanced uptake and catabolism of LDL cholesterol, thereby lowering plasma LDL and triglyceride levels. Jupimarc is indicated for the management of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia and for the reduction of cardiovascular risk, including heart attack and stroke. It is administered orally as tablets and is available in multiple strengths including 10mg and 20mg.
