JUVÉDERM VOLUX XC is a sterile, biodegradable, non-pyrogenic, viscoelastic gel implant used as a dermal filler. It consists of hyaluronic acid (HA) produced by Streptococcus species of bacteria and crosslinked with 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE), formulated at a concentration of 25 mg/mL with 0.3% w/w lidocaine in a physiologic buffer[1][2][3][4]. The product is manufactured using proprietary VYCROSS technology to create a smooth and dense gel that provides structure and volume when injected subcutaneously or supraperiosteally. Its primary indication is for the improvement of jawline definition in adults over the age of 21 with moderate to severe loss of jawline definition[1][2][3]. The mechanism involves physical augmentation—restoring lost volume and contouring facial features by providing structural support under the skin. Lidocaine is included to reduce pain during injection[1][2].
