Juventas universal CD19 CAR-T therapy

Juventas universal CD19 CAR-T therapy is an allogeneic, "off-the-shelf" chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy currently under investigation for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Developed by Juventas Cell Therapy, the product utilizes a universal cell therapy platform where healthy donor-derived T cells are genetically engineered to express a CAR targeting the CD19 antigen, which is found on the surface of B lymphocytes. This approach aims to deplete pathogenic B cells that drive various autoimmune conditions, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), thereby resetting the immune system. As an allogeneic therapy, it bypasses the need for patient-specific manufacturing, potentially offering faster access and lower costs compared to autologous CAR-T treatments. The therapy is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
