Overview
JUVIA + fluconazole is a combination therapy being investigated for the treatment of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC). The regimen consists of a single oral dose of **fluconazole** (150 mg), a systemic triazole antifungal, followed by a 12-week course of **JUVIA**, a topical zinc-containing vaginal gel. Fluconazole acts by inhibiting the fungal enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase, which is essential for ergosterol synthesis and fungal cell membrane integrity. JUVIA provides a local, zinc-mediated antimicrobial effect that is intended to complement systemic treatment and prevent the recurrence of infection. The combination is currently being evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial (NCT05895162) sponsored by Juvia Bio.
