JVS-100 is a non-viral gene therapy that delivers a DNA plasmid encoding stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF-1), a naturally occurring signaling protein. SDF-1 activates endogenous tissue repair pathways by promoting angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels), inhibiting apoptosis (cell death), and stimulating leukocyte activity. The therapy is designed to protect and repair tissue following organ injury or disease by enhancing blood flow and supporting regeneration in damaged tissues. JVS-100 has been investigated primarily for chronic limb-threatening ischemia, heart failure, peripheral arterial disorders, and fecal incontinence. It was originally developed at Cleveland Clinic and further developed by Juventas Therapeutics and SironRX Therapeutics; Astellas Pharma holds licensing rights outside China for certain indications[1][2][3][5][7].
