Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JW01 is an allogeneic (universal) chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting the CD7 antigen, currently under development by Juventas Cell Therapy. Designed to treat T-cell malignancies such as T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) and T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL), JW01 utilizes a "universal" platform, meaning it is derived from healthy donor cells rather than the patient's own. This approach aims to provide an "off-the-shelf" treatment option, bypassing the manufacturing delays and potential quality issues associated with autologous CAR-T therapies in patients with aggressive T-cell cancers. The therapy incorporates gene-editing techniques to prevent graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and to avoid CAR-T cell fratricide, as CD7 is naturally expressed on T-cells.
