Overview

JW1601 is an investigational, orally administered small molecule antagonist of the **histamine H4 receptor**[3][7][9]. Developed as a first-in-class therapy for **moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis**, JW1601 acts via a dual mechanism: it selectively blocks the activation and migration of immune cells responsible for atopic dermatitis and inhibits histamine signaling implicated in itching[2][3][5][9]. Clinical studies have shown promising safety and tolerability in healthy volunteers, and phase 2b trials are ongoing globally[3][7]. The drug was initially developed by JW Pharmaceutical and C&C Research Laboratories and has been globally licensed to LEO Pharma for development and commercialization outside Korea[3][5].
