Overview

JWK003 is an adeno-associated virus (AAV)-mediated gene therapy being developed by West China Hospital of Sichuan University for the treatment of mild Alzheimer's disease. Administered via a nasal spray, the therapy utilizes an AAV vector to deliver a therapeutic transgene directly to the central nervous system, bypassing the blood-brain barrier through the olfactory and trigeminal nerve pathways. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and biological activity in adults with mild cognitive impairment or early-stage Alzheimer's disease, with assessments including cognitive function, neuropsychiatric symptoms, and biomarker levels.
