JX2201 is an antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) therapeutic candidate developed by Zhejiang Jingxin Pharmaceutical for the treatment of hyperlipoproteinemia(a) and related lipoprotein disorders. It specifically targets the mRNA of apolipoprotein(a) [Apo(a)], which is the defining protein component of Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]. By binding to the Apo(a) mRNA, JX2201 triggers its degradation, thereby preventing the translation and assembly of Lp(a) particles in the liver. Elevated Lp(a) is a genetically determined, independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease and calcific aortic valve stenosis, and it is not effectively lowered by traditional lipid-lowering therapies like statins. JX2201 represents a targeted approach to reducing cardiovascular risk by lowering plasma Lp(a) concentrations and is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials.
