Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JY501 is a small molecule potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) currently in preclinical development by Jinyang Pharmaceutical for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). As a P-CAB, JY501 functions by competitively and reversibly inhibiting the gastric H+/K+-ATPase (the proton pump) in the parietal cells of the stomach. Unlike traditional proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which require acid activation and bind covalently to the pump, P-CABs provide a more rapid onset of action and sustained acid suppression that is independent of meal timing. The drug is part of Jinyang Pharmaceutical's internal R&D pipeline aimed at providing improved therapeutic options for gastric acid-related conditions.
