Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JYNNEOS is a live, non-replicating vaccine based on the Modified Vaccinia Ankara-Bavarian Nordic (MVA-BN) strain. It is indicated for the prevention of smallpox and mpox (monkeypox) disease in adults 18 years of age and older who are determined to be at high risk for these infections. The vaccine elicits both humoral and cellular immune responses against orthopoxviruses by inducing vaccinia-neutralizing antibodies. Effectiveness was inferred from immunogenicity data compared to licensed smallpox vaccines and supported by animal challenge studies. JYNNEOS does not contain preservatives and is available in both liquid-frozen and freeze-dried formulations[1][2][3][6].
