Overview

JZB28 is a recombinant human-mouse chimeric monoclonal antibody developed by Henlius (Shanghai Fosun Hanlin Biotechnology) as a biosimilar to cetuximab (Erbitux). It specifically targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), a transmembrane glycoprotein that is overexpressed in various solid tumors, including head and neck and colorectal cancers. By binding to the extracellular domain of EGFR, JZB28 competitively inhibits the binding of epidermal growth factor (EGF) and other ligands, thereby blocking downstream signaling pathways such as MAPK and PI3K/Akt that are critical for tumor cell proliferation, survival, and metastasis. The drug is primarily being investigated for the treatment of recurrent or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) and has progressed into Phase 3 clinical trials.
