Kék Lukács Ointment

Kék Lukács Ointment (also known as Kék Kenőcs or Blue Ointment) is a topical combination therapy developed by Hungarian pharmacist Dr. Károly Lukács and associated with Lukács és Társa Gyógyszerkereskedelmi Betéti Társaság. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of deep partial thickness (second-degree) burn wounds. The formulation contains a combination of antibacterial and antifungal agents, including sulfamethoxazole (a sulfonamide antibiotic), miconazole (an imidazole antifungal), and azithromycin (a macrolide antibiotic). The ointment is designed to reduce the risk of wound superinfection and promote healing from the bottom up, aiming for smooth scar formation. It has been evaluated in a Phase II randomized controlled pilot trial in Hungary, comparing its efficacy against standard silver sulfadiazine (SSD).
