Overview

K-911 is a small molecule drug candidate developed by Kowa for the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It is designed as a dual-action therapy that functions as both a prostanoid FP receptor agonist and a nitric oxide (NO) donor. By activating the FP receptor, K-911 promotes the drainage of aqueous humor via the uveoscleral pathway. Simultaneously, the release of nitric oxide is intended to relax the trabecular meshwork, thereby increasing outflow through the conventional drainage pathway. This combined mechanism of action aims to provide a more robust reduction in intraocular pressure (IOP) compared to conventional prostaglandin analogs. As of late 2025, the candidate is in Phase 3 clinical development.
